For many years now, the Ibérico ham industry has been crying out for a quality assurance standard that would protect the consumer of Ibérico hams and shoulders against non-genuine and fraudulent products.
Five years ago, this mission was entrusted to the Interprofessional Association of the Ibérico Pig (ASICI) and after an intense analysis of the problem and its solutions, they decided that the best product for meeting the objectives of assurance, identification and traceability that the Ibérico industry required was a security seal incorporated at the abattoir. This seal accompanies the Ibérico ham throughout its drying and curing process until it reaches the consumer and is the guarantee of its quality.
For the manufacture of these seals, ASICI chose the PRECINTIA INTERNATIONAL both for the excellent quality of its products and for the business commitment that the project required.
PRECINTIA has been dedicated to the identification of hams for more than 20 years, which is why it has extensive experience in the market and a great deal of prestige in the industry.

for Ibérico pork meat, ham, shoulder and sausage.
Finally, on 10 January 2014, the project came to be when the former Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete and the Vice President of the Government, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, presented the security seals to the media which from now on they will regulate the quality of Ibérico hams that are produced in Spain.
This regulation identifies the diet of the animals (acorn, feed), the racial purity of the animal (100% Ibérico or Ibérico crossbreed) and the place where it has been bred (oak pasture or feedlot). The seals contain this information plus a number and barcode that will enable the traceability of the ham or shoulder at all times, protecting the industry and protecting the consumer from fraud.
